Holdings and trades
Your E*TRADE from Morgan Stanley holdings and trades in Notion
Finta writes three databases: Holdings, Securities, and Investment Transactions. Quantity, every trade, and cost basis (when E*TRADE from Morgan Stanley reports it) come from E*TRADE from Morgan Stanley. Each holding links to its security, which carries the symbol and close price.
- Holdings
- Summary, Account, Security, Quantity, Cost Basis, Base Currency, and Last Update. One page per position in each account. Market value and gain or loss aren't synced fields. Add a rollup of the security's Close Price and a formula to calculate them.
- Securities
- Symbol, name, security type, and the last close price with its date. Option details are optional fields. To get them, open the Securities table settings in Finta and use Add Field to add Option Contract Type, Option Expiration Date, Option Strike Price, and Option Underlying Ticker. They fill in when E*TRADE from Morgan Stanley reports the contract.
- Investment Transactions
- Date, security, quantity, price, amount, fees, and currency for each buy, sell, dividend, fee, and transfer. The subtype tells a dividend from a dividend reinvestment, a contribution, or an interest payment.
Keep a history, not just today's positions
Finta keeps one Holdings page per position and updates it in place. Sell a position and its page stays, with Quantity set to 0, as long as the account still holds something. If you sell everything in an account, its old pages keep their last values, and Last Update shows when each one last synced.
For value over time, add Balance History. Finta stores each account's balance once a day and adds a dated page, so you build a daily record of what each E*TRADE from Morgan Stanley account was worth.
